Forced Harmony is a photo essay made during a ~2000 mile road trip through California, Arizona, and Nevada in August 2023. The project explores the exchange of influence between human and nature. This project started at a hotel in Sedona while reading an article about vortexes. The article described a vortex as " a place where the earth seems especially alive with energy" and that really resonated with me. I started thinking about our relationships to tourist destinations as more of an exchange of influence. These photos are examples of when that exchange felt particularly harmonious.
